cleaning throttle body
About a week ago I posted that I got rid of my sticking gas pedal by cleaning out the throttle body. In the last couple of days my idle has been pulsing at times while idling. I was reading the section on this site about adjusting the TPS and it says that the TPS sensor may be damaged if you don't remove it while cleaning the throttle body. Have I damaged the TPS or is there a way of cleaning it? Should I try and do the TPS adjustment? Thanks for your response, Greg.

I've heard that you should remove the TPS before cleaning the 22R TB, but after doing my own TB cleaning on my 3VZE, I am pretty confident you don't have to worry about it there.

Just need to make sure you don't use regular 'carb cleaner'. It can damage the electronics if it comes in contact with them. Use a brand of cleaner that is specifically designed for throttle bodies.

I definately used a throttle body cleaner. I was thinking of spraying out the TPS with some electrical cleaner, don't know if that's a good idea or not. I have some really good electrical cleaner since I work on alot of electronics at work.

Why not get your DVOM and test the TPS? If it's operating within range, it probably doesn't need cleaning.
Here is a link to testing the TPS:

Just to be on the safe side I just bought the Napa Carb, Choke, and Throttle body cleaner, safe for O2 sensors and catalytic converters. Is this TPS safe? It was the only throttle body cleaner I could find at Napa. I did pick up some seafoam...hopefully it works well.

I cleaned mine with o'Reilly's Air Intake Cleaner. I used 2 1/2 cans (holy cow there was alot of carbon) and saw no problem with the TPS. I had the same problem, sticky gas pedal. As long as you don't dip it with the sensor on there and use a cleaner made for EFI systems you will be fine.
Try to put the truck in diag mode with the jumper pin. If you can hear the timing change then you know the TPS is set right.

Did the same
I cleaned my intake with cleaner also, and it was very dirty. Afterwards, I also had a problem with idle running high, and not dropping back down below 1000 (was running 1500). It would only drop back down if i pounded gas pedal then fell back to 900. I cleaned TPS with electronic component cleaner, and blew out with air but still the same. Over time, it seems to drop back down by itself more often, any suggestions?
