Check engine light code 52

Check engine light came on after swaping a 3.0 vze, we put a new timing belt, keep the old knock sensor, at idle there is no light, but increasing the rpm;s up to 2,000 light comes on and stay on until I turn off the engine at restart light os off, and it will come on after revving above 2,000 rpm.
Is this the knock sensor or the timing?

It's not the timing. Code 52 does NOT mean the engine is knocking! Code 52 means the ECM hasn't heard from the sensor in a "while," so the ECM has to retard the timing (to save the engine) just in case it IS knocking but the sensor isn't communicating.

Most likely problem is the pigtail; it's in a hellish environment. The knock sensor itself could be dead, but they're very tough and not much to them. Or you could have wiring problems elsewhere. But I'd go with the most likely problem. It's a dealer item, but not too expensive.

Of course, getting to that little piece of wire is another story. I've heard of some trying to avoid that disassembly, and have tried installing a new knock sensor into the lifting eye or some such. Personally, I don't believe that could work. But if you try it and it does work, let us know.

What scope said is on the money, however the knock sensor does sometimes fail happened to me but most likely the pig tail but I would check the wiring between the pig tail and ecu
