Check engine light
I recently had to smog my rig. And it failed. high Hc's. So I figured I would do a tune up, since I never done one and I had it for @ 100k. So I did a tune up (it badly needed it, every thing was worn etc.) took it back for smog and it passed with flying colors. 4 days after the tune up. my CEL came on. I pulled the codes 14 and 71 (ignition and egr codes). I searched on here for relative issues and all sorts of stuff popped up. egr valve, cracked head, ground wires etc. I was getting ready to start buying some parts and some speacial tools to do some service manual testing. So I decided to poke my head under the hood to take a closer look and start probing for problems. Then what would u know. I found a vacuum line off (imust have dislodged it while i was changing the spark plugs). Bam reset the cel and it hasnt been back. Good old toyota.. keeps on trucking.
My point is... sometimes problems are right under your nose. Put some time under the hood and who knows, you just might find the problem. After searching for similar problems. I read Alot about people spending valueable cash shotgunning parts with no results. I know its not always easy, back track all recent repairs, work etc. Have faith in our rigs. They'll run forever.
I've collecting parts for my sas. I was kind of lagging getting the parts but now I have rekindled the love and want to get some new legs under my rig sooner than later.

Congratulations!
You are one of the magical few that utilized outwards thinking. No, seriously. It kills me what some people come up with because of an error code, or a hesitation, or anything else.
I've learned that the best way is to just follow the FSM testing procedures... and troubleshooting flow charts. A $6 multimeter and a copy of the FSM will get you far with the aging EFI system and the obstacles it throws at you

This is manly the reason I wrote this thread. For some positive reinforcement! After reading what some people have done. And how much they've spent chasing issues amazes me. If I'm gonna change a part I want to be 100% sure it will fix the issue. I got other toys/project that I can use the money for (sas)
