so i went out on a limb and decided to dismantle one of my door panels. i am having the same CNC shop that did my tail gate panel make me some door panels. i am using 1/8" ABS for the doors, i used 3/16" for the tail gate. i will post some pictures when they come off the machine tomorrow. FYI, i have sold several tailgate panels. i am selling for 85 bucks plus shipping. this gets your a panel thats CNC cut and drilled, new hardware, and im applying some thing weather stripping to the back for a nice snug fit. you can PM me here if your interested. i have 3 left from my current batch that are not claimed yet. black is the only color i can get right now but im checking into grey.
Looking good! I like the textured look of the ABS.
I actually plan on reapplying my original carpet trim to these ABS panels. my cardboard pieces were falling apart. I had extra panels made and am selling them for 150 a set right now with new plastic retainers. if it were just a wheeling rig I would say just pop them on and send it.
Today I got good progress on the door work. I installed new window channels runs which is a breeze. Best to just slip the ends down then pop the upper portion in place. I hand washed the oem skins and fit them to my new ABS panels. I recovered the upper portion of the door panel with some leftover headliner vinyl from when I did my headliner. I put in new lock bezels, easiest to just run a solder iron into the little pegs on the bottom to melt them into place. Also I’m swapping my nylon nuts over to another style from Toyota I really like. Will be putting the moisture barrier in tomorrow and once the rest of my nylon nuts show up I can fit the door panel on for good. I also have new handle bezels on the way. Lock bezel Panel nuts Channel run Push whole nut into whole Remove outer pin Install this pin into your panel Like this Door lock bezel pins to be melted Installed Channel run P/N
I’ve got some new channel runs waiting to go in. Mine dont slide well in the cold. So you don’t need to remove the window first? Any weatherstrip adhesive used?

I removed the regulator and dropped the window all the way down. Which reminds me, I also cleaned the old sticky grease from my regulators and applied some new roller bearing grease, I forgot I mention that above. I did not use weatherstrip adhesive the new channels popped in nice and snug and do not move.
The regulator has 3 10mm bolts holding it onto the door and 2 10mm bolts attaching it to the window at the slide.
Cody, Thanks for the extra photos and explanation. Can you tell if it was deterioration or build up of dirt in the rubber that makes it difficult for the glass to slide?

melrose - mine were difficult to roll up in the cold too. i sprayed pb’laster down the channels on each side of the windows, and now they roll up/down easily in the cold. i spray some every fall when i apply fluid film to the runner body for rust protection.

Thanks, Wally. I've tried the silicone spray in the rubber channels because I have seen auto glass installers use that, but in my case I think it didn't really help.
I paid about $65 for each OEM window run so they are going in there! Just have to find the time.

two of my favorite product. Fluid film is a god send.
Today I had a parts expert I know at Toyota check the window sweeps I had come up with. They were for the pickup, which uses a different armrest design than the 4Runner. 4runners inner sweeps were discontinued 10 years ago. You might could get really crafty and bend open the metal brackets on 4Runner sweeps and cut up the pickups ones to install them but mine weren’t in that bad of shape so I reused them. The moisture barrier was a pain because it’s messy. I did my best not to spread the weatherstrip glue everywhere. I ordered new OEM window crank handles, the nylon disks, and clips, and door handle bezels which havnt come in yet, but here’s the panel installed. i also picked up this generic cargo net from amazon with some
mounting hardware. I simply replaced the #8 screws in the corners with the mounting hardware for the net. Looks good and will be handy on my new tailgate panel.
Very nice! I hadn't seen that piece of foam on the door latch rod before. Maybe it was long gone on my truck. I sleeved mine with plastic tubing, but the damn thing still rattles. Going to have to pop the panels and glue some foam down.
door refurb continues. I ordered new crank handles and the plastic spacers for the windows, although my handles came in black instead of gray like I ordered, not even the same P/N so ive got to call about that.

I once ordered Genuine Toyota Wiper blades and when they arrived, they were a slightly different length and a different part number I ordered. What they probably did was substitute an available part that is functionally the same as the part number that you ordered. This might mean that the part number you ordered isn't available.

this is exactly what I suspected so I emailed them this very question. im totally ok with the black handles BUT if grey is still available ill take them. I still have my old faded/sunstained ones if I really needed grey.
