Question Chain tensor innards?

Has anyone by any chance ever taken appart a 22re chain tensor. I just took off my oil pan to clean the pickup screen, and found that the previous owner had tried to use an oil plug that was too long, and punched a hole in the oil pickup screen, that allowed a small plastic particle to get lodged in the oil hole in the back of my chain tensor. I am hoping I am safe from particles in the rest of my engine, in thinking that the oil must be passed through the filter soon after encountering the chain tensor. Anyways I have removed the plastic debreis from the oil hole in the chain tensor and fixed the hole in the pickup screen, but I am trying to figure out if I need to get a new chain tensor as well. I am thinking that the hole in the back of the chain tensor opens up into a reservoir where oil pressure builds up to assist the spring in applying pressure to the chain. Guess thats why I am asking if anyone has seen the tensor innards, by cleaning out that hole, should I be safe to reuse the tensor, or is this the time to bite the bullet and spend 40 buck to get a new tensor? Thanks for the help.
