Chain to Gear Tranny swap

I've got a 93 22re with original chain driven G58 top shift tranny and VF1A Tcase. I want to go gear instead of chain to open up to mods, so I've just picked up an '86 top shift W56 to match with the current shifters, and I have a RF1A Tcase from another truck to match up.

Surely this is a fairly common project as many vehicles have double Tcase and low gear mods, but I'm just wondering if anyone as any specific advice regarding this project. I've completed a regular removal/reinstall on a Ford, but I haven't yet attempted a swap between different components. Heck, there's probably a lengthy thread on this as well, but with so many new posts each day, I was at a loss to find one. This will probably be the first of about 60 mods I have planned. If things go well I'll have a build post up before February as well, so I can finally introduce myself properly. Thanks!

Sounds like youv'e about got it covered.
Id check to see if your speedo is cable or electric, I believe in '92 they went to elec. Which would mean the RF1A would need a Vehicle Speed Sensor from Marlin.

Other than that I believe it would be a direct bolt up.

I think that is true until 1992. Not sure though.

Great point, I had checked into this and then let it slip my mind. My local Toyota dealership hasn't returned my calls about this, so I'll have to remind them. When they do, I'll post the response.

The tcase and tranny are a few hours away, so I can't just take a look.

Great to hear they bolt up swimmingly! Thanks for the response.
