Cd player mounting hole not the same as stock?

Im installing a Pioneer deck in my truck, and noticed that the holes on my new deck are not threaded, but on the stock unit the holes are threaded. So right now my deck cannot be secured to the bracket that connects to the dash, anybody got a solution?? Thanks

The Pioneer deck should come with 4 coarse thread screws, if not you can make your own easily enough.

I have a Pioneer head unit in my 88 and before that it was in my 92.

They aren't threaded, but the funky shaped holes will accept a screw and hold it secure as long as you don't over tighten them.

Ok, got it all connected and working, sounds much better still on stock speakers, i found a screw around the house perfect for mounting the deck to the bracket, so ill go and get some new ones then i can put it back together. I have one problem with the snap on connectors i got, i have one wire left with nothing to connect it to, its the orange one if that helps at all, hasnt affected usability of the deck so should i just cap it? Also the power antenna always stays up not just in radio mode but all the modes, anybody got any ideas??

Yea search the pioneer website for the diagram might have the wrong wire hooked up for the power antenna, if the deck is new enough to support it. The orange should be your illumination wire which usually can be capped as it is not needed.

Does the antenna go down if you power off the stereo? Sometimes, that's how they work. Is the orange wire for illumination?

Yea the orange is illumination, i dunno what for tho lol. The antenna also goes down when powered off but not when i switch modes while its on, if its turned on the antenna is up, i wish it only went up for the radio since i dont need it for anything else, sucks cuz you cant go wheelin in the bush and listen to music or you might bend your antenna on a tree or branch... Then your hooped, ill have to look more into this to find out if it will go down

The illumination is most likely for an auto dimmer for when the lights are turned on. My head unit has that capability but I haven't hooked it up.

I bent two power antennas on my first 4Runner, while wheeling. I switched to a non power antenna, and never had a problem again.

The illumination wire is hooked up so your stereo will dim when you turn on the vehicles' lights, for night driving. It's not necessary, but if the light from the stereo is bothersome at night, you might consider wiring up the illumination lead.

In my experience with several Pioneer's I have owned, the antenna will always be up even in cd mode. The only thing that would work is if it is a flip down face it would go down when the face is flipped out. It will still play the cd when it is open and the antenna will be down, so it could be an option for you.

Hey all, got my cdplayer mounted up this morning after i got some hardware, installation was incredibly smooth, beig it was my first proper cdplayer setup. I had some brand new kicker subs in a new box with a new amp kickin around so i decided to hook them up aswell, they sound great but drown out the stock speakers, so i need some qforms and a component speaker system up front and get 2 new speakers for the back along with an amp for them and im set, but for now this setup is pretty good

Place a switch in line with the antenna wire that you can use to cut power to the antenna when you are wheeling. This will allow you to still use the CD/USB sources for music while protecting the antenna.
