Catalytic Converter
Hello all, I wanted to ask about experiances with Catalytic Converter replacements (other than Toyota). I know that Flowmaster makes aftermarket CATs, any experiances you could share. What is the impact on the 4-runner if the CAT is removed. The 95 that I purchased has a rusted out muffler and Catalytic converter, you guessed it.. headgaskit issues. It is all back together with the expection of muffler and CAT.

You will only notice a difference if your cat was clogged up.. And you didnt touch the stock exhaust.
I run a magnaflow universal cat. I pass smog every year too (I gotta go tomorrow lol!). If you are replacing it, its only a few more bucks to go to a local muffler shop and get a catback bent up. Then you can slightly increase the pipe dia, and add a muffler of your choice.
Note:
The oem toyota cat has platinum inside. thats why all the crackheads steal em.
You can sell it to the scrapper for some good coin, I havnt checked the going scrap rates so..... Before everything went to hell they used to fetch a good $100..

I took mine off and had a straight pipe made to bolt in place. It sounded like a stupid ricer and I put it back on a couple days later. What a waste of time and money. No improvement unless you like to sound like you are racing when backing out of your driveway.

The performace increase was great and it isnt that much louder just more of a throaty sound. It does smell terrible tho.
New cat/muffler when I redo my exhaust to 2 1/4"

Hope this will help you guys regarding this matter,
I have the Magnaflow Catalytic Converter 46208, I purchased it direct here. Magnaflow Catalytic Converter 46208, I have no comlaints with this cat I passed emissions and got not engine code errors so Im happy. You would not believe what the dealer wanted to charge me for this thing. Definately buy online and put it on your self its way cheaper.
