Perspective !! I drove my 88 Reg cab 2wd for 10 years everywhere and even totaled it once when an 18 wheeler pulled out in front of me. It was rebuilt sold later and have it back now and use it sparingly. I restored it cause I love it and thought that my kids could use it for High School/ College, but the truth is I can't help but notice now how light and small it is. It also can get squirrely making quick stops especially in the rain. With all that said I still strap both of em in one bucket seat and run around locally from time to time. I hear people say it was good enough back then but think about it the full size trucks of today are even larger than the ones of the 80's and couple that with people textin and using cell phones and accident chances go up. In the OP dilemma I would keep my truck and only use it to tote the kid if really needed. I would just use the other car. my 2cents
