can't seam to get my dash out, 87 4runner

So i have a leaky heater core that I'm trying to replace today. Got most of the dash apart, but I can't get the dash pad/cap off. How does it attach at the windshield side?

I have it unbolted, underneath where the instrument panel attaches, but can't seem to figure out how the rest of it attaches.

I have looked at some 1st gen FSMs that I found online, but none of them cover the evil Dashboard. Sorry if this topic has been covered before, I have searched here, and on every yota 4x4 site I can find... grrr I freakin hate heater cores....

btw, cool site. I'll take some pics of the runner and post them, when I'm not all pissed at the truck.. lol

there are 3 bolts total.. 1 at the left side by the instrument cluster, one dead center of the dash pad, & a third behind the passenger air vent... the center one is a doosy...

cool 2 down 1 to go

Just got the center bolt undone. How do I get access to the pass side bolt? Does the air vent need to come out of the pad or? If so, how do I get it out without breaking it?

Thanks alot for the tips...

thats awesome

I got the dash all apart and I guess I assumed that I would be home free... boy its complicated back there. Does anyone have those kind of diagrams for actually getting the heater core out of the housing?

This is quite a project...
