Can't find my oil dipstick and guide at all
Hi guys, I drive a 1991 toyota v6 3.0. With a solid axle swap. A month ago my head gasket went out on my truck and I remember checking the oil to see it it was cream color. So finally hired a mechanic to to my head job and drove back home the truck last night. The truck runs like a dream and no oil is being spilled at all. So this morning I go to check the oil on my truck, and I can't find the dip stick or dip stick guide I could swear it was located behind the alternator and next to the oil filter. I see a nut that I believe is we're the oil guide would be. So my question is A) could it have fallen off and still be drivable since its not leaking with the truck on B) how hard would it be to instal a new one.
Thanks a million.

If its missing, I would ask the mechanic if he took it off and forgot to place it back. If he did (most likely in my opinion), He will probably put it back on no extra charge.

pfft, he better put it back on for no charge. Don't drive down any gravel roads untill it back on. Or put something in the hole to stop dirt from entering the oil pan. How does the mechanic know there enough oil in the engine if theres no dipstick?

I called him back and asked him if he knew were the oil guide was at and he told me he found it weird it didn't have one. So I think it fell. I don't know anymore if I see the mechanic I might punch him in the face. He had to take apart the engine twice because he didn't use the head gaskets I bought from the dealer but uses the ones the shop that did the head resurfacing. I gues they give u a pair of gaskets. So I forced him to switch the gaskets so its been issue after issue. So If I just go to the dealer an order the oils dip stick and guide. Would it be easy to instal.

That's exactly what I asked him. He gave my truck an oil chance. And he had no answere that's the last time I take it to him. Weird part he's always done good work before

Well, I received a new dip stick guide and oil dip stick and so far so good on the installment. It was a bit difficult because of my headers but I managed to install them
