Yeah, when I read 5,000lbs, my first thought was "loaded thrower wagon." Only problem I would see is if they have to drive through a muddy area, a loaded hay wagon would probably give your truck a -10 penalty to it's traction check.

At least tongue weight on a hay wagon is a non-issue, so the only real load on the hitch is from pulling the wagon.

my truck was just retired from farm service after 10 years, it pulled double and triple loaded wagons no problem in 2wd on packed dirt roads...we pulled 1 wagpon threw some slop one time, and in 4lo, we pulled out a stuck jd4240...but as for pulling 5k...i dont think it can be done. if you wer pulling it on a flat packed surface gong straight, youd be okay, but ruts, bumps, loose surface, turns and hills play alot bigger of a factor then it seems...plus, getting 5k moving would be tough without a granny gear

Since there seems to be a real decline in smaller family farms.

Most all of you never had the chance to learn if it breaks fix it . Because you need it to make your living .

If you get stuck most often you have what you need to get it out. If you don`t the neighbor across the hill most likely does

Ok. Found the owners manual. The towing limit for the automatic is 2000lbs. For a stick it's 3500lbs. Max gross weight (vehicle + trailer) is 6100lbs for the auto, 7600lbs for the stick. Max tongue weight is 200lbs.

Trailer brakes are required for trailers exceeding 1000lbs.

My 86 has a new 22r, flywheel and clutch kit in it and I towed a 6700lb boat and trailer for about 4 miles. I smelt a little clutch but thought it would be fine, a few weeks later the clutch went out. When I talked to Toyota they asked if my truck was originally sold with a rear bumper.I told them no, their reply was the reason it sold with no bumper was because it wasn't made for towing.Toyota also said that if it was sold with a bumper, the knockout for the ball was left in. This was toyota's way of not covering the waranty for the clutch on their new trucks. Once you added an after market bumper or a ball to the bumper it was voited

These trucks pull, they just don't pull up to american standards.
