Cam and rocker assemblies

Alright let's discuss this:

LC engineering do it yourself kit for $399.99.

VS.

22 RE performance preassembled rocker assembly for $295 plus $45 core.

Both use high oil flow rods. 22 RE performance says their rockers are resurfaced and hand lapped. LCE says they use brand new rockers from Toyota. Let's talk about pros and cons to each one. Have you used one over the other? Why?

I'd rather have new rockers over resurfaced.

Depends just what your end use is going to be .

I have cleaned up Cam followers on stock horse power engines .

Now if you have a unlimited budget and are shooting for a 250 Horse power 22RE Then new would be a no brainer as the rest of the engine would be new as well.

If I built it.

Personal preference !!

I send my stuff out to Delta Cams in Tacoma WA. Any grind you want and your rockers get touched up as needed. As for the extra oil holes. Well every 22re I have is over 200k miles I think its just a gimmick, or for dirt track.

Yes extra oil anything to make money.

What happens when all the oil is in the head and you starve the lower end.

Well, my rockers are ruined. They went south when the cam failed. Because of all the machine work that's been done to the head and block, I'd like to run a pro torquer cam. I think I'm gonna have LCE get my cam and 22re build my rocker assembly. I agree, the extra oil is just that, extra. The fact that it comes with the new rocker assembly is fine with me.

Don't be so quick, I had Delta resurrect a set that I thought was really bad. Saved me a bundle, like 50% over other brands. They like a charm, reset the lash once and its holding just like new.

That's a good idea! Maybe I'll ship them out to Delta and see what they say. Decisions decisions...
