Cabin / AC Filter on '86 Truck

The cabin filter on my '86 is looking very... hazardous at the moment. Does anybody have any instructions or tips for removing this thing?

Just pray tell what are you calling a cabin air filter??

Then given the age perhaps you have a after market AC system ??
