A/C clutch

does the A/c clutch have shims or is it a preset gap? (87, 4cyl, 4rnr)

and does it require a special tool to remove it?

The pressure plate requires a special puller to remove. If you're lucky, you can pry it off with screwdriver if you're really careful. There are some shims.
