buzzing sound

Ive had a '88 22re 4x4 for about a month and it purred perfectly when i first bought it but now there is a "buzzing" sound while accelerating through the gears, say, until i get to fifth gear and open it up. Anyone know what this is?

probably a bearing in the tranny.

Does it go away in 4th gear?
Electric or mechanical sound?

Its actually coming from the rear, think its muffler or exhaust related now that i think about it.

Check your gear oil in the tranny and the differential oil. Hopefully it's just an exhaust leak. I love my '88 runner!
