I want to start off by thanking everyone on this site for any info they may have posted regarding changing cv axles. I had probably 3-4 hours in the project and changed both axles and installed Aisins, and everything went smooth except for me breaking both studs on my sway bar end links. I need to know if I am safe to drive it until I get some ordered( I've go them zip tied to the sway bar to keep them from moving around). ?And I also noticed that the upper end link nut/stud looked a little weird--are there any special steps to remove it? The vehicle is a 91 4Runner 3.0 w/AT. Thanks. Any Aftermarkets you all would recommend?

 

oh yeah, no prob to drive it without the endlinks. some people ditch the sway bar all togather for better articulation off road. I had a link broken for quite a while on my runner before i even noticed it. sorry, i can't help you on the upper link nut/stud, i had a mechanic change mine out. I ordered replacement energy suspension urethane bushings from Mako offroad on ebay (about $10) and my replacement links from partspalace.com. they were way cheaper than any of the local shops in town but i think the price was pretty standard at most other online parts stores.

 

just fyi, ive taken my sway bar out at the beginning of the summer. the only thing you have to remember is, no abrupt directional changes! if you drive safely, you will have few worries.

there is a bit more body lean when cornering, but once you get used to it, no big deal. if and when you decide to sell the rig, then you can worry about replacing the bar and links.

I've always ditched my swaybar as soon as I buy a new truck. I've never missed it, especially on the T bar suspensions. If you are going to keep it, and you plan to do any off road stuff with your truck, I would look into quick disconnects as long as you are replacing the links anyway. I think Wabfab makes them for your truck, but not sure.
