Broke knock sensor tip

Hey guys I have a little dilemma.... I'm rebuilding a 3vze for my runner and I'm done with the short block and moved on to the top end.... I'm out of money and just ran into two problems first is that when I was installing the knock sensor I broke the plastic tip at the top where the pigtail attaches.... I attached the pigtail and it is still held on tight but I'm just worried about the broken plastic tip, like I said I'm completely out of money and can't afford another knock sensor

I don't think it will matter as long as the wiring harness is still firmly attached but just want others opinions

Oh and lastly I just realized that one of my cams dowel pin thing has fallen off.... The pin that aligns the cam with the cam pulley, I know I need to replace this.... I'm going to look for it incase it has fallen out but if I can't find it where do I get a new one?

Well, as far as the sensor, I would replace it.
Bit of a pain to have to get in there again to fix it later....

You could glue the connector on I suppose, but I don't think that's a great idea.

A used one shouldn't be that expensive.
You MAY even be able to use one off another Toyota engine. I'm not sure which ones cross reference though.

The dowel pin new would probably be dealer only, if you can get it separate from the cam.
You could try to find one used, or last resort a machine shop should be able to make one for you.
I'm not sure how bad an idea it would be to run without it. Usually it would probably be fine, but there's a chance the gear may move [though that may mean a loose cam bolt].

I assume what you broke is the detent tab on the connector. If you don't replace it, it might work, for a while, until the connector vibrates a part. Then you'll get to take the entire engine apart again to fix what you skipped today.

Or you can spend $53 at Rock Auto. What's your time worth?

The 5mm pin that aligns the cog to the camshaft is the "knock pin" (I don't make up the names) part number 90250-05121. $.94 from ToyotaPartsZone.com, probably a few cents more at your dealer.

Ok replaced everything questionable and ordered the cam pin at the dealer. Also had to get a headbolt washer because I lost one! Got the heads installed and torqued as well as the cams, just waiting on the timing belt component kit to come tomorrow.

One more question! Lol what goes under the intake manifold on the front of the engine?
there's a little area that is empty and I can't find anything in my pile of parts that looks like it would go there

Nothing goes there. the black plate has foam strips that close it off from the top when you bolt it on. Mine was in that state but in the truck about 3 days ago....
