Breaking into my own 89 runner

Ok so laugh it up fellas..I locked my keys in the 4runner.. And not only did i lock up my runner keys in the runner..but those keys have my house keys and the keys to my other two trucks also.. Yeah yeah.. spares spares..but I dont have any! I bought the truck with just one set and i havent got any copies made . So any ideas on an easy/non-damaging way of getting inside? Tomorrow im getting my hands on a slim jim.. But i have no clue how to slim jim the truck to be honest..

Please PM him. I don't want some crack head steeling my truck because he found instructions online.

A locksmith/ AA costs maybe $30-50.

I'd really like to figure out how to do that, I quasi-frequently lock my key in the truck and some of my friends do as well. Curiosity is killing this cat.

I had a coat hanger hidden on the out side of my truck because last year I kept leaving the keys in the truck and locking them in.

sadly it is very easy to unlock it.
you should take the inside panel off and look at how the lock works then you will know where to place the slimjim I have found the Tabasco ones to work the best.

Having a father who was a cop, and worked auto theft for a while. 2 types of thief's. 1. those that know how to break in, regardless. 2. the one thats gonna bash your windows, regardless! To think someones gonna troll a yota thread to steal that 88 runner, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I'm sorry, I love them...but HAHAHAHAHAHA.

You beat me to it!!

Also most pre 90 vehicals are very easy to slim jim or coat hanger. This is because they use the same technology from the past. The rod that goes up to the pull knob is always there. All you have to do is get a hold of it. After that they started putting the lock activator by the handle to open, horizontally. This makes it much harder because you can't pull that way easily.

Slim jim is very simple if you practice a bit. Knowing and visualizing the internals of the door make it much easier. If yor truck is open i recommend taking the panel off and practicing by looking at the open release while the door is open to see what you are doing, that way when you need to do it for real you can replicate from memory.

Open dozens of cars with slim jim. Some harder than others but all can be done.

Also, remember there is many more than ONE type of "lock-out tool" i.e. Slim-Jim. for differnt style locks systems/cars.

I remember reading in some car manual. I think it was my 83's manual. If you lock your keys in your car/truck what you should do is break the smallest window in your car/truck.

Yeah, it sucks how easy it is to get into them. I already had my old 88 4Runner stolen. I am a firefighter and we do lockouts for people all the time. They bought us a tool works way better then a slim jim. The only car I couldn't get into? A brand new Mercedes. Every time we would hit the power lock button it would instantly relock the doors.
EVERYTHING ELSE WE CAN GET INTO. I don't get why its so easy. And the worst part is. My Dad is a cop and they do lockouts as well. He complained about the slim jim. So I looked it up and I easily bought one of those tools, and there was no questions asked. Anyone can buy em. So I ended up getting an alarm with starter kill. They can steal my stuff, but at least the 4Runner will be there when I get back to it.
