I checked to see if the bolt was too long and it was perfectly fine. i even put a shorter bolt in just to make sure even tho i could not even see the bolt pertruding. i had the valve cover off and checked all the lifters to make sure none were too loose. took all the belts off to eliminate any outside noise (the video nothing is hooked up)

i had an idea that maybe something came loose in the belhousing possibly? since the flywheel is always spinning do you think possibly it could be something like that?

i would describe the noise as a kid sticking a card in his bike spokes.

the timing chain looked fine and had no wear marks anywhere.

I wouldn't even begin to think what that is really, it's not valve tap and it's not valves tapping of a rocker cover that's too tight. Not a rod bearing either. Not sure what a bad throwout bearing sounds like.

Have you tried to see if it comes and goes with the clutch in and out? Do you have an oil pressure gauge or just an idiot light?

might check that they put the timing chain on in time.......

also are you getting oil to the top of the motor? (should be able to see oil pouring on to rockers when it is turned over)

Can you post another video at idle. I can't really hear anything at that rpm. Is it making a tapping noise?

I'm persuasive...........I flat out told them what it was costing me in time, fluids, etc to pull the motor at an extremely inconvient time at only 9k miles. They paid the first time........I paid the second time so it ended up not mattering that they paid the first time.

We run into this at the shop once in a while.
The timing chain guide (the plastic one to the right) is a few thousands short of the guide bolts. We shave off a few thousands of the shoulder of the bolt not the threads in order for the bolt and guide to snug up against the block. We had a few engines come in from time to time that were DIY or from other not as knowledgeable shops. They had tightened down the bolt and guide to spec but if the plastic guide is offset by the shoulder of the bolt being to long the guide will be loose and it will cause the chain to make that "card in the spokes" sound. We shave EVERY one of those bolts and never ever ever had one motor come back with a guide issue like this in hundreds upon hundreds of these motors!
Hope that helps...

so your saying shave that collar down thats on the guide itself? do you know what those bolts are supposed to be torqued to? and when you've seen this happen is the noise loud or quiet? cause this noise is pretty loud

You can see on the first picture the bright area on the shoulder of the bolt shaft where it meets the threads. That is what we shave off.
We put the bolt (the one with the shaft and thread) on a lathe and we shave down the shaft in order for the guide to seat just right.
The noise is quite loud. The guide is slapping the chain as it goes speeding around.
The torque specs for those are 14ftlbs and we put a drop DROP of locktight on there
