Brake light issue.

On cold morning when I park on a hill with the hand brake set hard, the light doesn't go out for a couple minutes. Only does this in the cold. The brake fluid is clean and full, the sensor is plugged in fine and its not random.

I have a feeling the problem may be with the parking brake handle itself not properly disengaging as it doesn't feel like the brakes are dragging. It seems the light goes out after braking for a bit (ieL going down hill for a kilometer or so).

Anyone had similar experiences?
Why would cold have anything to do with it? (maybe cold, thick grease in the cable sheath?)

I'd like to sort this out so that if there is a brake issue one morning, I find out before I end up parked in someone's living room or up the back end of a minivan.

Mine ususally stays on unless I push the handle in a few extra times... I guess the extra slack in the cable keeps the handle from de-pressing the button....

brake fluid can 'congeal' causing issues with the fluid level sensor in the reservoir and over time, the parking brake switch can stick as well.

I only ever remember it staying on when parked facing uphill. I'll park facing downhill sometime and see if it stays on as well.

Its not that cold out, only about 20*F (-5*C), but it never does this in warmer temperatures.
