Bought Another 4Runner

Bought Another 4Runner
Saturday evening I saw a 4Runner listed on Craigslist that needed a motor. My dad and I went earlier and picked it up. Needs motor rebuilt or a new one put in. 120k, leather, factory CD, 4x4, 4 Wheel ABS, pretty clean. Paid $500. =D
As much as I'm excited about this, it still wont replace my dear Black 4Runner I just sold last week. =(
My dad's thinking 2L-TE swap or another 3VZ.
Crappy photo I snapped real fast.

Thanks for the responses guys. As of now, we dont really want to spend a whole lot on another engine. We do however have a Vortec 350 out of a Chevy Express laying around. I was doing a brief research for a Chevy V8 Swap. Maybe a 1UZ. But something tells me we're just gonna end up dropping another 3VZ in. lol

Wow, if you're thinking about another 3.0, a 350 or a 1UZ, you need to consider the 3.4 instead. I know you can shoehorn either V8 into it, but dropping a 3.4 into it is at least as easy as swapping in another 3.0. Minimal fab work, stays Toyota, and more power than the 3.0.

I would really love to see a 5VZ find it's way in there. But I know he wouldnt want to pay for one. Haha
Thanks for your input guys!

Seriously, when my 3.0 started to go, I looked at my options and I considered the 1UZ and the 3.4, with the 3.4 winning out. The fact that it bolts right in, with minimal mods other than wiring and some mechanical stuff, in the end it was just the smart thing to do.
It's not just about the power and reliability, but I also get better fuel economy, too, to the tune of 10-15% better. So, with the number of highway miles I do, it will pay for itself. Plus the ability to cruise up hills that the 3.0 struggled on is worth it.
If you can convince him, then there are a ton of people here to answer questions. Really, if you can find a 3.4, go with it. I've never once regretted doing the swap.

I am doing my 3.4 and the mechanical part was easy, I just kinda ran out of money but I will be starting up shortly. For my other 4Runner I want to do a Toyota V8 swap. Just depends what ya like.

I wanted to do the V8 as well, but my concern was the amount of fab work I'd have to do in the limited time I had, plus I didn't have a welder at the time.
I'd love to do a first gen with a Lexus V8...
