Bought a 1995 22re truck

Hi All:

I just bought myself a 1995 4X4 with 260,000 KM (161,566 miles) on it. Bought it from the original owner. It's in great shape. 4cyl manual. The owner took great care of it.
It was 5 hours drive away and it dove back great. I was driving it to work today and the engine light came on. I emailed the old owner and they said it was checked for the light several times and they were told nothing was wrong. What could cause the light to come on? I have a few other questions as this is my first Toyota 4X4 I have wanted one for 20+ years.

It has 15" tires on it now if I put 31" tires will that take to much power from it or will it run fine? Also what oil should I use in it?

Thanks for the help.
Brian

31s will be fine, go by and get your codes pulled. Proably just and o2 sensor.

I have been running 31" BFG KO on my truck for 3 years now with 4.10 gearing. Its a bit slow on hills but manageable. But I like the stance of 31" tires on stock suspension.

Congrats on your new purchase.

If you stick a paper clip from the E1 to TE1 or T1 terminal in the engine bay then look at the dash for how many times the check engine light flashes that will give you the code for the light. When I bought my truck 3 years ago the check engine light was on and it was the 02 sensor. I would figure out the code first before you start throwing parts at it though.

15" tires, huh? I'd love to see that.
