blew another ifs diff

Im running 35's with 529's and I have blown 5 different ifs diffs! The first 4 were with 410s and 33's now I just blew my 529's. Every diff I put in is from a non add truck, and has play on the passanger side because the carrier is worn out. Both the ring and spiders go every time.....
I am going to pick up an add diff with 5.29s tonight for $200 and put my long side axle from my non add diff on it and try one more time. Any one have any tips for checking this new one out before buying it?
Also is it as easy as swapping the long side shaft(4 bolts) to convert from add to non add? Maybe the extra bearings will help.(I HOPE!!)

It is the driver not the truck. Sorry but 5 diffs is unheard of. They do break but not that often. Usually a CV takes a crap first. Less skinny pedal!! LOL!

I'd say you need to ditch your yota axles, and put a pair of 2.5 tons down there. Then be done with it. If you can break a 2.5 ton axle, then you need to learn how do drive because you're doing something VERY wrong.

well my hypothesis(if thats the right word) is that every diff I am using has alot of miles and like i said the passanger side has tons of play because the carrier is worn, and every time I break one i'm climbing a hill that has a wall at the top and I am pinned. So what could be happening is the play causes spider gears to break then the teeth from the spiders chew up the ring/pinion? I have never broke a cv axle or birf on any of my yotas in 5 years! This diff I'm getting tonight is only supposed to have 500 miles on it plus its got the add needle bearings so no play on pass. side.

You've got pretty big tires, and if you use too much gas pedal, stuff will break. How many CVs have you gone through in the same timespan?

Are the wheels bouncing at the time? A front locker would PREVENT that damage.

Buy better quality gears and get them cryo'd...

The bigger the R&P the more crutial the instalation becomes.... Who does your gear installs?

The diff i got today has yukon 529s with install kit from marlin crawler and were set up by a good local shop. Plus it has low miles all my others could have had 200k on them. After i go hammer on it next weekend i will report back. If it breaks its 2 wheel drive tell I sas!

Easy on the skinny pedal, at least until your truck is built for it.

Put in a locker and run some high-quality gear oil (like Amsoil) in your new unit and report back. Those IFS diffs are actually quite solid little units.

Also, are all of your mounting locations for the front diff in good shape? I would imagine if one of those bushing was toast and the diff was allowed to skee-jaw during a high-torque operation, the bearings could get some misalignment.
