I just picked up a '92 4Runner that needs some work. It has rear ABS and I am going to install a new master cylinder. Do I need to do anything special to disable or bypass the ABS system? I read an article on how it works, and it was saying I need to bleed the power steering system, bleed the brakes with the engine on, bleed them again with the engine off, then use some special tool. Do I really need to do all of those things or can I just bleed them like normal with the engine off?

 

On my 93 with rear ABS I just bled them like normal. Make sure you bench bleed the new master before installing it, they usually come with instructions for that. Then bleed from furthest to closest, ie rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger and front driver. Then bleed the LSPV last, that's the one above the rear axle in the middle.
