But I guess on a good note, I called up the machine shop in the midst of the rucus this afternoon. When I called him up, he said that he had just started boring on the second cylinder
Tomorrow he's hoping to get to the crank, and he'll let me know if he has any milling to do, or if it'll be good to go with just a polish (and he says at first glance, a polish might be all it needs), but he'll know for sure after getting some measurments. Then I can order my bearings and have them around the begining of next week, and get to tossing the short block together
He's trying to get it done by Thursday afternoon so that I can pick it up then, as Friday's probably out of the question to pick it up

weeeell...
I came home and found a box at my front door today

DEFINATELY looks a lot better than the original, lmao

OH, and on a side note, if anyone purchases a NEW CASTING head for a replacement, be sure to check all the cavities in the head for any metal left over form the casting

it took me a good minute of two of flipping and roller the head around in the air to figure out where this rattling sound was coming from, lol

So the machine shop called me today; said the block got all finished up yesterday, and today he was finishing up on the crank and rods. He had to line-hone the crank end of the rods, because they were just slightly "egg" shaped, and he was in the process of honing the wrist pin bushings to fit the pins. Then he was going to get to the crank, and finally through the freeze plugs in for me. Should be read for pick-up tomorrow afternoon, BUT the only problem is he only can take cash, and well, I'm broke right now as my paycheck will deposite tomorrow night at about 2:00 am
SO, I might have to wait and go to pick it up first thing Friday morning

it was all discolored, and use to have a section of a hood support litterally ripped out, and looked pretty gnarley:

I removed a little metal to even it out, and tapped down the rest with a hammer, so it's almost not even something you would notice now

Weeeeee, we've got some freshly machined parts!
You'll notice a few things; 1) He gave the block a coat of sealer-primer to keep it from surface rusting
and 2) he didn't have to TOUCH the head mating surface! He said it was freek'n flat as can be! After measuring, measuring again, and then checking it one last time, he found NO flaws in it! That's just one less service I had to pay for

And now for the rest of the day, I have a wedding to attend/be in
