Cool black out bumper lights?

i was in an o'reily auto parts store today getting some paint and while browsing the selection, to my surprise, i found a can of vht nightshades paint. this got me thinking. has anyone ever though of smoking the orange bumper lights on the front of their toyota? and as they are pretty bright it wouldn't really mess them up with a light coat right?

I think it would look cool with a black bumper. I like the look of my clear lenses with the chrome bumper.

I've done this to numerous lights on many of my previous vehicles except I used the hobby tint spray paint for plastic model cars. It works well but you have to clear them.

I have never been a big fan of blacking out lights. Keep in mind it is also illegal.

it looks good if it's done right and not too heavy......

and if it is illegal? then why do ALL of the auto parts stores around me sell the plastic lenses that go on over the headlights and tail lights...????

i have niteshades on my turbo cobalt ss. Im stationed in new york (almost as bad as california) and i have never gotten crap from the cops for the 2.5 years i've been here. I have them on both my tail lights and headlights/ambers. Obviously they still put out enough light that no one bothers. The key is to make sure you can still clearly see your turn signal blink during the middle of a sunny day. If so than your golden.

I've been pulled over twice since owning my '95 4runner with tinted taillights. Neither time he said anything about them, and I was pulled over because one of the lights was out.
Also, a few days after I bought it, I was at a bonfire and cops frequent that area at night looking for parties, under age drinking and firearms. The cop mentioned something about me not having mudflaps (which are required in AK) nothing about the taillights. I actually asked him if they were illegal,. He said That they were not as long as light could still be seen. I think they look stupid, but they arent all that bad. And it does compliment my grey and black 4runner well.
So I think it varies state to state like most laws.

yeah, the law out here says as long as the lights must be able to be seen from a distance of 1000 feet. i asked an officer about it and he said it was true but blackouts are discouraged as it cuts out reflectors. i have them on the front because most of the driving i do is during the day or i drive in town where there are plenty of street lights and don't necessarily need the headlights. i have xenons in them too so i figured it might be courteous to cut down on the brightness for oncoming drivers.
