The stock carburetor on my 1987 22R needs to be replaced. I'm thinking of going with a Weber conversion kit, but can't decide between the 32/36 or the 34/34. I'm not overly concerned with performance improvements, but I live in Washington state so it still needs to pass emissions for a few years. Anyone have experience with either/both of these carbs?

I have the 32/36 on my 83 took quite a bit of tweaking and i hate the plate system to mount it its 2 spacers bolted up together. I purchased a offey intake that the carb bolts up to no spacer required but have not installed it yet. I might be in the market to sell them both here soon as i am going to an FI motor. pm me if interested.

I've got a stock carb, intake, egr from a california 88 22r I don't need- I bought the complete engine and stripped the intake off to use the longblock in my 91. the seller told me the engine ran well when it was pulled from the truck. when I stripped the stuff off, the carb was clean inside and out.

otherwise, if you go with the weber, be prepared to re-jet unless you get one already set up for the 22r. I'd probably do the 32/36 instead of the 34/34. you would likely see better mileage with the first than the second.

I would use the 32/36. I have a few and they work well. Get the Trans-Dapt adapter from Summit, it is much better than the Weber adapter. I use a Carter 4070 fuel pump and a Holley fuel pressure regulator set at 2.7 PSI. Yes that is plenty of pressure with the Carter pump. Use a fuel pump relay.
Jetting for most 22R's is around a 170 air jet, 142 and 145 mains, and a 65 idle jet. Some say you cannot beat the stock carb for wheeling, maybe you should get with Abe. There is more needed for a Weber than just the carb to do it right.
