Best method 22re valve seals

I am going to do the valve seals on my 22re and wonder what experience others have had doing these. I am going to try the rope trick but has anyone had luck with another way? comp air, rags....

I used the rope trick on a 1.5L tercel engine once: OHC, side mount spark plug to very similar. It worked fine.

I've never done the seals myself. So, no help here. Just more sarcasm.....

Dang I miss-read this whole thing...

My goof, I thought you said guides not seals...

DEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Yes, run a shoe lace in the spark plug hole and run that piston up to TDC...

Then using a spring compressor remove the valve spring...



Dang, again, my bad...

I figured a bit to much green.....1300 posts and that was your bright idea.

Shoe lace eh, never heard of that. That might be easier to handle then the rope.

i pulled my head and fubared one of the valves and had a machine shop reseat all the valves with new seals and one new valve for 120 bucks worth it to me that way all the valves seat properly buttt i had it off already too...yeah rope trick sounds worth it

The compressed air thing scares me b/c it seems like the slightest movement or loss of seal on the valve and it would fall in.

The shoelace method is cheap, reliable and requires no special tools.
