best gears for 92 4runner
I have a 92 4runner 22re m/t with 32" tires and was wondering what would be the best gear choice for a dd and decent off-road vehicle. I don't want them to low cause i go back and forth from vegas to utah a lot. any advice would help. thanks.

4.88's would be perfect with an auto or manual. I have a buddy with 5.29's and 32's which work well but he's not on the freeway much. I have 4.88's and 33's and it's pretty close to stock. Good luck. Welcome to YT.

i had 5.29's and 33s for a while and it was AWESOME off road/around town, but got old on the highway. Just how high the rpms are when your crusing at 65 doesn't make you want to go any faster in fear of wreckign the engine.
As of right now. On 5.29's and 35-36" tires i cruise at 70mph at 3000 rpms all day.
For 32's its hard to say. Do you plan on ever increasing tire size?factory came with 4.56's for 31's and people recommend 4.88's for 33's..

4.88's would match up very well. A little higher than stock to make up for the added weight of the tires, and the underpowerednes of the 22re.
4.88's for a 5sp, 5.29's for an auto.
