My '95 3.0L 3vze v6 locked up to the point of no return. After much searching and research, I decided to go with ToyotaCarPart.com for a long block. Since I did not have a salvageable core to return I paid the "full price" plus the shipping cost. The total was only $1975. Based on my research this is the best buy going!
I am now back on the road with a smooth running remanufactured engine which also comes with a 3 yr parts warranty. They are located in Colorado Springs and can be reached at 888 603 7101. They were very professional in my dealings with them.

If you do not have a rebuildable engine:
It looks like their engine is $1595 + $500 (lack of core charge) + $200 for shipping = $2295 vs the $1500 + $350 (lack of core charge) + $175 shipping = $1975. The difference seems to be the lifetime vs 3 year warranty for $325.

If you have a rebuildable engine:
$200 to send it to them and $1595 plus the $200 to get it = $1995 for Oregon engine vs $1500 + $275 (both way shipping) = $1775. So then the difference is $210 for the lifetime vs 3 year warranty.

As I stated, I got mine thru ToyotaCarPart.com and they were very professional.

 

eh I did not have a rebuildable core so I found one on the portland craigslis for $175t and had the guy deliver it to Oregon engines who also checked it out first and payed the guy.

Also shipping was only $100 for me and since I did not have to ship a core that was all I paid.

They have quality engines and do quality work

A friend might sell me a 4.7L V8 that was in an '09 4Runner (wrecked). It has 1200 miles on it. We'll see how that goes!

Seems like swapping it in to my '88 4Runner would be a pain in the butt. Plus I don't want to end up with the auto tranny.

 

why does their standard 22re not come with a timing cover?

I have experience with Oregon Engine Builders too. I had them build my 5.7 Ford motor 7 years ago. To qualify for the lifetime parts warranty they have to retorque the head bolts. I had them do the install too. Over all I was happy with the engine. The shop is located kind of by Sandy Oregon and is out of a guys house in his shop. Atleast it was back then.

I'm stuck between deciding if I want to pay the extra $$$ and keep the core to do a rebuild myself, or just send it to them and get the $$$ back... really, it's not like I'll need a spare, since they offer the lifetime and unlimited mile warantee but then again you never know...
