Bent center link

I have a 1992 toyota pickup 4wd 3.0 v6 I recently bent the center linkage minorly i think i was wondering if there was any way to unnattach it and reattach it and then just aline it as close as i can if that would be possible?

I assume you mean the "relay rod." http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...g/16steer0.pdf Before you do anything else, call a Dealer with your VIN and see if it was subject to the recall (and if it was already done).

If you bent the relay rod "a little" you could adjust the toe with the tie rod tubes. You wouldn't remove the relay rod to do that, but you'd need alignment equipment.

But the real question is: what are you going to do when the relay rod breaks? It's a big hunk of steel; if you wanged it hard enough to bend it, all bets are off.

I dont think it bent i think it just turned on the pivot arm

Nevermind.

Anyways, I bent mine pretty good. So I took it off. Heated that sucker cherry red with a torch in the area where the bend was. Then set it on my chopping block and wailed on it with a BFH until it was straight. Put it back on. Haven't had a problem with it since.

So yeah, you can do that. But whatever in the hell you're talking about doing. And whether or not that's going to do A THING to remedy A THING. Who the hell knows? I kinda doubt it to be frank.
