ball joint spacers

ball joint spacers

why dont they make 2" ball joint spacers?, my buddy works at a machine shop and can fab up almost anything so i was thinking of getting some 2" spacers made instead of the 1.5".

They do. You have to custom order them. I want to say Marlin Crawler has custom orders where you can get any size up to 2 1/2" I think. maybe only 2". And yeah I think WabFab does as well.
They put extra stress on the CV joints, more so than 1.5" obviously. A diff drop might be a good idea, unless you dont drive much with the hubs locked. I guess it can be bad to drive a lot with the hubs locked with even 1.5" BJ spacers......

I would go with the diff drop still. 2" is getting up there and that added stress with the hubs locked could bind your cv's up.

Unless you shim up your upper bumpstops, with 2" spacers, the first time your front tire goes to full droop with power to the wheel, it will bind some and rip the inner cv boot.

Even with 1.5" you sometimes have to shim the upper bumpstop and there is no rhyme or reason why. On mine, the driverside needed to be shimmed with a couple washers, while the pass side was fine with the stock bumpstop.

Do so at your own risk. 1.5" was shown to be the max you want to go while still keeping your steering angles, cv angles and the ability to align your truck...

1.5" is the tallest height spacer on the market AFAIK. Some places list them as 2", but that includes 0.5" of lift from cranking up the torsion bars:

Lot's of people run a 1.5" spacer and crank the tbars. If you run a 2" and leave the bars alone you should be at least as fine as the others running 2" of combined lift...

That's a negative, the difference is that the 2" spacer adds .5" + of travel over a 1.5" spacer with tbar crank. It is the extra travel that is going to kill the cv's on full droop.

People forget that bjspacers add travel as well as lift. A tbar crank just adds lift but no travel.

so pretty much the best thing to do is get a 1.5 spacer and crank the torsion bars .5 to get the full 2" of lift and modify the bump stops?

Yeah, that would probably be the best if you absolutely have to have 2" of lift in the front. The consensus is 1.5" spacer and leave the tbars alone or even crank them down some, but others do the spacers and a tbar crank to get 2".

i got 1.5inch bj spacers from 4crawler, and 2inch superlift add a leaf. its not noticeable that it sets .5inch higher in the back unless you really look at.and i clear 33x12.50s fine with no rubbing.

Toytech sells 2" BJ spacers. I have a set on my Runner and have had no problems. Though I haven't done any serious wheeling since install and my cv angles a near flat.

I just installed 1.5" bjs and that's the most I'd want to go. The CV angle/ tie rod angle is as steep as I want it to be. I also lowered my ride height back down to stock. I just wanted suspension performance, not looks or ground clearance.

Go measure them, I bet they are 1.5", if they were 2" you would think that they would sell them seperate.
They only list 1.5" spacers.

Are you talking about 1.5" vs 2" spacers or spacers vs tbar crank?
