No 4Runners before 1996 had a 340F trans. They all had 340H. Big difference.

I completely agree with the rest of what you typed. I ran 33's with 5.29 and an auto and it was strong. Surprised even me...

NO 1996 and up came with the 343F, and yes the olders are a 340H, not F. That was quick typo on my part.

Well, I've driven 33's of all widths, and like my 33x12.5x15 bfg mt's I currently have on it the best (Got em this weekend. Such a killer deal, 5 for $400. Caint get much better than that!)

It may be a psychological thing, but I notice better performance in the mud with 12.5s than 10.5s. Though by pure mathematics, its 2590.5in2 for the 33x12.5s compared to the 33x10.5's 2176.02in2 of surface area. That's 414.48in2 more tire able to push you through the mud. And a bigger surface area means less weight per square inch of tire which means you won't sink as far down with wider tires. With 33x12.5s you have a downforce of about .43psi, compared to .51psi with the 33x10.5s (4 tires, assumed weight of 4475lbs.) which means you're putting down 119% more weight per square inch with those 10.5s.

Someone double check that... Pretty sure my math is right lol

I have a 1990 4runner with a A340F transmission and a 22RE.
