So my newly found beauty has some flaws...its a 86 4runner 22r-e with a w56 5-speed
The problem is...when I put it into any gear I get noise...sounds kind of like loose marbles in the transmission. I hear it the best in 5th....but in 4th gear it goes away completely. When its out of gear it I don't hear any noise from it...

I did some research on here and couldn't quite find my problem or a solid solution. I read that it could be the input shaft bearing or pilot bearing...any thoughts?

If you hear it in every gear but 4th, your bearings are toast (4th is direct drive through shaft). I'm betting if you drop the drain plug you'll find a lot of pieces of bearings.

 

I'ma drop the tranny this weekend...which bearing are u betting are toast? And any idea on what price they run?
