Bad Oil Pump

The oil pump on my truck died and it chewed up the the gear that slides over the crank shaft that drives the oil pump, were can it get this gear, and my next question is, would using a used oil pump be ok or should i buy a new oil pump ?.

The gear that im talking about slides over the crank shaft, and then the oil pump with its gears slides over that gear and drives the oil pump.

Find somebody parting out a truck. You can get a bad 22re (if you can find one) for cheap.. Like A few hundy. Then you got tons of spare parts, or you can sell parts..

Or just buy the oil pump drive splined gear from a bad motor.

I'd say pull a junkyard oil pump and check the tolerances. If it checks out then buy it and install it, if not then pull another one and do the same until you find one that checks out. Be sure and buy a gasket set.

Oil pumps off of our engines out here go for 7.50$ a shot. You can do a lot of looking for that amount of money and the time it takes to pull one.
