bad mileage

Hey folk, new posting here. You ugy got tons of good info out there.

So here is what I got, 94 xtra cab with a 3.0, the mileage went way down from last year and it has been running kinda rough especially at idle. I took the plugs out and they had normal wear on them and all that but I cleaned them anyway. Occasionally I get a miss during running as well. What do you guys think?

Yeah, it's probably time for a tune up.

-Plugs, wires, cap & rotor
-Air filter
-o2 sensor
-Fuel filter
-PCV valve

Just how bad is your gas mileage?

Well last time I measured it I am at about 14 onthe highway less in the city.
The air filter is less than a year old, 02 sensor well I dunno lol, fuel filter is 3 months old, pcv valve the same.

I don't ilke the wires on my truck either, they are these little tiny flimsy looking things. They have performance sets out there but I have only been able to find the real expensive ones.

What plugs you guys running?

I am getting about 14 highway and less in the city. I use it as a daily driver right now too, I have manual hubs so they stay unlocked.

Tune-up time! I'd also make sure you're calculating the mileage accurately, and check your alignment/tire pressure etc.

hmm i would take a look at your distro cap and rotor, my contacts were really worn down, causes stuttering, poor mileage, and sometimes a miss...

I had the same problem, did everything with no luck. Turned out that the miss would come and go. One day the miss came, and never went away. Turned out to be a bad exhust valve.

Start saving your money now and do a 3.4 swap when the 3.0 dies

Use NGK or Denso plugs.

Did anything unusual happen when your mileage went down? Have you made any changes to the truck? New tires? Steering recall? Was it sudden or over a period of time? More questions need to be asked/answered before everyone has you throw money at it.

anywhere from 2000 to 3000 grand depending on your mechanic skill level and your ability to find cheap stuff.

By the time you get done with a 3.4 mod you could potentially have $5k in it (some have)...just FYI. Like dijlop said, it depends on your mechanic skills & ability to find stuff on the cheap.
