The Toyota truck in the second movie's beginnign scene has NO vent windows, the KC light covers are missing, and the front end is IFS.

Yes... I am a nerd.

I think that when they wrote the third movie's script for Marty to actually DRIVE the truck, they realized they had to track down the original. They probably sold off the 1st 1985 truck thinking they wouldn't require it for filming. But ultimately, with the original Jennifer character leaving, they had to re-shoot the entire scene of Doc pulling up and refilling the "Mr. Fusion" generator.
IFS in an 85? they didnt put IFS under their trucks til 93...?

I wish we had Toyota shows around here--that looks like a whole mess of fun. That Stout (in the foreground of the FJ40 picture) looks amazing--there aren't too many of those around. The FJ and Hilux are also incredible.
Glad everyone is enjoying the short vacation I had at ToyotaFest. Next year Jennifer will definitely be in there.

My truck is a 87 and it's IFS. I believe the IFS began in the 86 models.

In the United States toyota first introduced the 4wd truck in 1979. from 1979 - 1985 these trucks had a straight axle front suspension. toyota introduced IFS in 1986. This suspension setup remained the same until 1995. In 1995.5 toyota came out with the Tacoma. It's still IFS however it no longer used torsion bars.

Hope this clarifies some confusion for some of you guys

Me, personally I wanted to match the truck as much possible so this would be a personal preference.

BTW, your rig is bad ass!

Were did you get the mirrors, I would like to find some better ones for this rig? Also glad to see they put plastic in the interior now, respect people's property like it was yours in my moto. Man your build is taking huge amounts of time, can't wait to see the end results.

I got the mirrors from another yotatech member. There was a thread started not too long ago asking about these particular mirrors and a member just so happened to be selling his.

I can't wait for everything to be done, except the bill. It's going to be crazy!! I was extremely happy to return to the shop seeing that they put plastic in the cab and the parts in the bed. I was just excited to see work being done everything else escaped my mind.

I bought a nice camera for Christmas so i'll post up some high resolution shots with some awesome scenery once everything is done.

Get that whip out, this is all I could find for that.
Best way to get things done is stay on top of it, be firm, be nice but get things done, looking good.

Co_94_PU nailed it in post #129.

I decided to go with the double tube light stand since part 3 had the most exposure of the truck.

Passenger side just about done

Driver side stripped

Prepped for sanding

Still waiting for the back corner which has been on back-order for the longest time now

And .... My custom license plate have arrived. I have to pick those up
