Autozone idler arm castle torque

I got the recommended AZ idler arm, but my torque on the bottom cotter pin nut read low (forget the actual numbers); so I think i did a bad thing, trying to tightent the torque, the nut rode way up before I could think about it, pretty much squishing the dust boot. If I try to back it off some more, it just goes real loose right away now. So I'm thinking I should add a glob of blue loctite and go for an approximate torque that doesn't squish the boot so much. Opinion? The boot is compressed to maybe some 3 mm approx, maybe 4, and I think it's @ 30-odd foot pounds
