Automatic Door Locks Giving Me Trouble!

Hello I have a 94 4 Runner and today when I went to lock auto door lock button they all locked then popped right back up. I tried doing them each manually n same thing. Also recently noticed that when passenger side door is opened if u push back as far as door can go u can hear the click sound they make when locking but dont lock. I need to be able to lock all 4 doors. Is it a fuse thing or wiring malfunction? Please any advice much needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. By the way this is my first 4 Runner and I love it!

I have only ever had that happen to me when the key is still in the ignition and I press the lock button. I guess it tries to prevent locking your keys in the car. One time the buzzer was still sounding even though the key was out and it wouldn't let me lock the doors. I just lightly bumped the ignition switch with my finger and it stopped buzzing and then the door locks worked.

Red face

If the switch that detects the key in the ignition is stuck closed it will do just what you describe.

Maybe you can free it up

As above.

This schematic suggests that the key-in signal is powered by the dome fuse. I wonder if removing the dome fuse would disable the key-in detection, and allow you to lock the doors. (Of course, it would allow you to lock your keys in. But it would be diagnostic of a bad key-in switch.)
