My automatic transmission in my 95 3vze is slipping bad. I've found a couple local ones for $300-400 and I was planning on doing the swap myself. I've never dropped a transmission and was wondering if there were any special procedures or anything? My father in law is letting me use his shop and expertise. Any thing I need to look out for? Thanks

never done an auto but i do know tranny jacks are nice to have. If you dont have one use a floor jack with a larger 10inx10in or so bord

If you will be working with the vehicle on the ground you can use one or two floor jacks. If you will be using a vehicle lift defiantly use a transmission jack. Removing one is easier than installing one. Having a couple large flat head screw drivers or similar tools really help to line things up, especially the bell housing bolts.

Harbor frieght trans jack is worth its weight in gold. The cheap red and white scissor one.

Buy some trans cooler flush. It hooks onto a cooler line, and with a powerful jet...it will flush and clean your trans cooler. Do not forget to do this..you do not want to shoot the old juice in it or any debris into the new trans.

Dont forget the torque converter bolts...lol.

Never attempt to "pull" the trans closer to the engine by using the bolts to draw it closer. It should slip into place. Never force it.

Make sure torque concerter gets flushed out. tip it over and drain it out. fill it with new fluid. tip it over again. do it a couple times.

Make sure the torque converter is full seated on the trans shaft all the way, turn it back and forth till it seats..

Don't drop it on your foot.

Consider installing an inline filter in the fluid cooler return line.
Magnefine is a good one.
