Hmmm, what is this im drinking??? Some sort of joke?
Hey Thook, that would be too damn cool to be able to make an oil cooler out of the tranny cooler on the rad. That would be really clean! (provided the lines are not fusterclucked )

Well, when I have the time, I am going to do it....and I will take pics and do a short write-up. This is, of course, provided my wife will actually either load the pics to my computer or load the stupid program so'z I can do it myself! Lol! An ongoing dilemma it has been. I'm too busy working or posting here to learn computers. Hey....priorities, right?!

When I flushed out my original rad, after the water slowed to a drip I undid the lower rad hose and proceded to get COVERED in coolant and water... MMM!!
So im thinking there is some water that was left in there, perhaps a liter or two...
Tomorrow I will jack up the front end a good ft and a half and burp the rad, I just ate and now its time to have a beer and relax

Did you make sure to flush out all the old green coolant before replacing with Toyota red? Not sure if they are compatible or not....but probably better if they don't mix.

To my surprize there was Toyota red coolant in there! It wasnt in the best shape but it was there In anycase, I shoved the hose in there till clear water came out of the drain cock on the rad.
It made me happy, I don't have to worry about mixing. I wanted to drain everything, I had the heater on hot, on everything I could think of. I guess there really isnt any easy way to get all the old water/coolant out.
Im just glad after a year of procrastanating I got a new (to me) rad in there. She is ready for the heat of summer! Fan clutch tested good too
Now I have 7 gallons of very very watered down red coolant..

Yep, I was shocked! I have ever looked at the rad from that angle, never noticed it..... and I thought the top was the worst! All the fins to the left of the screwdriver were crushed by my fingers touching it..... My temp guage stays solid at just over 1/3. I know thats not saying much with the rep our temp guages have but....
When I got it all back together, the truck seemed to run better!

Well, my rad needs to be replaced. Bad. So after months of searching for good used rads I found a really nice one out of a 93 auto 4runner. I assumed it would bolt right in no problems, well, now that im about to put it in, im not too sure...
The 4runner rad looks a little thicker, but I dont think that will be a problem. The thing I worried about is the fittings on the bottom of the auto rad.
I have a feeling these are the input, output for the tranny cooler.
Can I block these and just run the rad? If so, how should I go about doing this? Or can I just run a line from each so they connect to eachother?
Thanks guys!
Here are pictures..

You don't have to do anything with the cooler lines. You don't have to block them, connect them with a piece of hose,NOTHING. It's a complete seperate unit in the radiator. You don't put anything in,nothing will come out.We get asked this all the time at work. The only time you have to block those is if the trans cooler had a leak in it (which is VERY rare) and so coolant would be leaking into the cooler, then out of those fittings.
