Auto to manual swap
Please feel free to reply any issues or concerns you have had in this process. Ok so here is the deal. I have an 86 pickup extra can 4x4 w/ 22re and auto Trans. I sold my ATV so I could put some money into it to make it safer and nicer. First on the list was tires. Now I wasn't necessarily looking to swap now but I found what I think is a really good deal on a manual Trans setup. It has everything needed I believe for $350. Yes trans transfercase new clutch presure plate through out bearing pedals shifters clutch master cylinder exc still in truck. My question is what should I look for to make sure this is a good deal and that everything is functioning? It is a g52 Trans. Is this a good deal? He said everything was just rebuilt and he totaled the front on the truck in a wreck.

Who rebuilt this?? Define just what rebuilt means??
Define just rebuilt I had one person tell me the engine was just rebuilt 90,000 miles ago.
Ok in a older truck it does not take much damage to total a truck.
Given that a hard front impact can cause all sort of drive line problems.
about all you can do is a good visual inspection.
If it passes that put it into all gears and rotate the input shaft making sure it feels smooth in all the gears high and low range

So how difficult is this swap? What kind of issues have you guys run into?
Yea I don't know exactly what kind of rebuild the transmission has been through. I guess there will be risk involved in it. So visually inspect and then go through gears

As far as the "rebuilt" part your kind of on your own. It's strange that people parting out vehicles always say the drivetrain has been "rebuilt" recently…
