didn't follow that.

You can get a 9.5, probably a 10k, ask the folks at ARB, give em a call. They are great folks.

biggest as in pulling power wise? warn m12000..or tabok 12K...but those would be overkill methinks. cant go with stand up style winch in arbs though...

I read where people have actually bowed/bent their ARB from winching.
One reason why i'll never buy one...

For a 94 the biggest you can fit is a 9000 warn, the 9500 will not fit. Its a little wider and the bumper was designed long before the winch. I know this because when I bought my setup 4wheel parts told me it would fit... luckily there is a 4wheel parts about 35 minutes from where I did the install, and they swapped it.

I have done some hard winching on my ARB bumper without any problems, but I also filled every bolt hold, so there is less room for flex. I think it has 16 bolts holding it on....

get the warn XD9000, not the XD9000i, the i wont fit.

correct me if I'm worng, but shouldn't the bigger concern be the strength of the mounting points, instead of the physical size of the winch?

I seem to remember reading that the biggest winch you can mount on the front of a yota of that era is 8000#

And good choise, I've yet to hear anything bad about the M8000

Nope, like I meantioned, a XD9000 fits just fine, but is the largest. and IIRC the 8000, and 9000 are the same size.

I prefer the 9000, you never know when that extra pulling power will be needed...

I'll second that. I've bogged my 9k down to a near stall in deep snow.

Hmmm, curious... whats wrong with getting a mid sized winch and using blocks and pullies to multiply the power? I know distance limitation can be a factor, unless lots of other goodies are obtained.

There is nothing wrong with it, but a bunch of pullies of the correct size will cost as much as not more than the difference in a 9K and 8K, and then on strait line pulls you have more power... even on pullied pulls... and on weaker pulls the winch isnt working as hard, less amp draw... etc etc...

i reccommend getting the biggest that will fit, you wont be sorry.

Thats true about the low load pulls. Didnt factor that in. Dont matter much anyways, I have a 8000lb winch. And I think the truck that I and getting (selling the tacoma) has an 8000lb winch on it also. But it's got the receiver hitch mount, so I guess I can use it on the rear? Wonder if I will keep it that way when I rebuild the bumpers. Dont like 2"x2" square tubing for bumpers. Unless it's on a golfcart.

I'm planning on getting the Warn Rockcrawler bumpers front and rear for my pickup. I got a pretty good price for the front bumper form a local dealer. He told me $560 for the front bumper. The thing that kind of suprised me is that the rear bumper cost more. He quoted me $595 for the rear. Not in as big a hurry to get the rear, but I probably will down the line. Nothing against the ARB's and the TJM's, I just want something more streamlined. I don't like huge, bulbous things mounted to the front of my truck. Another place you can check is bentup. They make some trick stuff, but it ain't cheap either.
Here's some links, check 'em out. later

I have seen the warn before and like it, however its just as bulky, or lack there of, as My ARB. The only difference is the bar on the ARB goes around the headlight too. This is only on the 86-95 ARB thou.. The Tacoma ARB is HUGE, sticks out WAAAY more, but that is due to airbags. The ARB for your rig sits in nice and tight, probally online with the warn.

For the price of a new ARB, you can get custom bumper fabbed for a little more if you find the "right" shop or guy.

I agree with the others you will not be sorry with a larger winch I personally have a 12,000lbs winch and blocks, over-kill; yes. but i have never overloaded mine and have pulled out alot of larger trucks really stuck in sand and snow, as fars as the bumper mounts being the weakness just throw some welds on there and you will be fine.
