Anyone using stock front seatbelts as rear shoulder belts in a 1st gen?

Hi all,

I've done some research and it looks like some people have tried this. Does anybody have some pics of the install and whether there were any issues involved in the swap? I know there are factory rear shoulder belts that you can get for around $110 a piece, but it seems like some people are saying that you can use stock front belts just fine. Is this true? I'm not too worried about the middle seat, just the sides.

I used front stock belts in mine. The original bolts from the front screw in the threaded holes in the back.

and it works with the bikini top

front belts

I have front belts from a regular cab yota in the rear of my runner and they work ok. They dont lock like the newer belts do and its easy for the 3 yr old to wiggle out. I am thinking of bitting the bullet and picking up a new set. I believe you have to use regular cab truck belts! Someone correct me if i am wrong.
