Anyone know what this is? Strange Black Box.
I haven't seen this on any other vehicle (pictures or in person). Definately an add on, the way it was mounted was very aftermarket-ish.
Notice the black box on the passenger side of the engine compartment...
This one here...
Have any idea what it may be? It has 1 cable coming out of it that was routed around to the throttle cable. It was broken, but I would venture to guess that it "clamped" onto the throttle cable.
I removed the box and cleaned it up a bit so I could read some of the markings. Something used to plug into it, but no sign of the plug. The top part of the box says "Dana Corp." & "Precision Controls". Then there are some adjustment knobs that would seem to control speed, sensitivity and such.
Any Thoughts?

x4 on the cruise control. My guess is an older Rostra unit. The newer ones all use dip switches instead of potentiometers.

x7 aftermarket cruise... I'd get it out of there.
A friend of mine had something that looks identical in his Jeep... he had major issues with it so he yanked it out.
Do you have a cruise control switch inside of your cab?

Aftermarket cruise control it is.
I yanked it out last night with absolutley no plans to put it back in. The only evidence in the cab was a spot on the dashed had been punched out.

dude! you shoulda left that in there! that's one of them black boxes like the airplanes got! in case you ever go into a big water crossing and sink in over the roof, that will send the signal for the rescuers to come get you out!
i guess it's not too terrible to take it out. they're way more important in like a Jeep or somethin'.
bwahahaha!
