i wanna see some intake setups from you carb guys, i went wheeling sunday and i got water in my carb, from the filter houseing not sealing on the carb tooo great, so i wanna see some alternatives, i was thinking of buying an adapter to fit a tube to the carb and running the intake inside with a cone filter of some sorts..

on my carbed motor, i diont have that set up , my carb is uphifh and i use a k&n pre filter and then i have a foam filter over that, never had a water problem also i have a bud built fill skid plate.

 

well, with the stock setup you could so something like Algranger dide, i dunno have to search for his thread on his redneck carb snorkel =)

The air filter box that attaches above the carb should seal well enough to keep water out.. i wouldnt trust it submerging your motor at all.

if the rubber seal that attaches to the base of the airfilter box is in good shape and you seat it properly ontop of the carb. Tighten that finger nut down real snug, you're golden.

Make sure the seal on the lid is good for both the rim and the airfilter and the seal on the bottom of the airfilter itself are all positioned right.

best thing to do is relocate the intake it'self. I usually stuff mine up near the brake booster. Seems to work ok to keep water out of it. Or you could route inside the cab or wherever.

 

There is supposed to be a gasket between the lid and body of the airbox, check and make sure thats in place, and there is another one where the airbox fits onto the carb. Then make sure you have one on the wing nut (factory wing nut has one built in)

Then like was said, re-route your intake even if you just flip it around backwards by the brake master.

Edit: If your getting water that high in the engine bay, also consider routing a breather hose for your distributor and sealing the cap with gasket maker.

 

If you are talking about where the wing nut is and water is getting in there I took a old piece of hose cut in horizontal along the 1 inch piece and then a plus sign cut right in the middle of the hose. Slides right over the bolt sticking out of the carb. Seals the air filter assembly with out letting water in. Hope this was helpful.

yeah i dont have a gasket that seals the air box to the carb nor the wing nut gasket dealio, and algranger, i actually read ur thread on sealing up the engine bay with the dist cab breather and sealing it up with zip ties n gasket maker, but anyways im trying to figure out a way to eliminate the stock airbox in favor of a TB style intake and fit it to the carb somehow??

well i guess its up to my mad fabing skills to make one lmao, ill take lots of pics and we'll see how she turnes out, i was reading another thread about the donaldson topspin seems KICK ASS but kinda pricey 170.00 for a filter
