IIRC=If I remember correctly. Net lingo, get with the tymes lololol jk

You would be suprised what the dealer can do with a simple VIN. They have a lot of technology that they dont share with John Q. Public.

Unless you make friendly with someone in the parts dept. I made friends (no ulterior motive...just a good person..him) with a guy at my local dealer and he helps me out.....quite a bit.

If all else fails, you could just pull the front diff cover off.....assuming the front and rear gearing is the same.

I wouldnt do the dealership thing. Previous owners might have changed the ratio, stickers can be wrong (not sure if the dealer goes by your door sticker).
I know my dealership went off the door sticker in my truck.

Just do the tire rotation, takes 5 mins and its easy. It took me 6 mins and I did it twice.

Sorry for the thread hijack but it seems fitting....

"Are there any tell-tale signs that a previous owner had regeared? Visual sings i mean."

Thanks

Paint on the pinion will tell you the code.

And usually you can tell if the diff nuts have been turned, as well as goop for the gasket.

ditto, the po did a cab swap on my rig, he never changed the door sticker so now I have the vin/tag for a 1990 pickup, 4x4, 22re, with 28" tires...
