Engine problems

i have an 88 Toyota pickup with an older engine (80-85 somewhere around there) and i just got it started last weekend. when i started it it sounded fine but there was an incredible loud knock and then i reved by it self extremely loud then died. my questions are

I have an oil pressure gauge where do i hook it up? it has oil flow in to the gauge so where is the male side that i screw it onto and it is also very small a couple mm wide.

second why is it revving so high and then dieing?

third what are possible causes of the loud knock?

All the help is appreciated!!

Carb'd or EFI? Sounds like you have a big vacuum leak somewhere. All the hoses hooked up and in their correct locations?
