Another Winter, Another Toy

I was on here last year with my 94' ext 4x4 p/u, met alot of helpful people, and became a fan of the toy. So much that I went and bought another.

This was the last years truck, after I did the work to her:

Sold it for double what I had in it. sight unseen. Good investment indeed!

I dont have a pic on this computer of the 'new' winter beatr, but pretty much the same truck, in rust, with less km's. shes ugly, but I plan to clean her up, on a budget like the last one

I already have priced out new fenders, and am building a custom deck for the back, as the box is not worth saving.

I have a question already (and searched)

When I accel or let off, I notice alot of movement in the shifter(s), like the tranny/powertrain is moving excessively.

Now, Im assuming tranny mounts, possibly engine mounts too? Wheres a cheap place to source these out?

And heres my summer ride

Yeah, we did a whole bunch to it, I have a thread on here somewhere with the entire fiasco.

It is a type 3, yes. 71 pan, 68 fenders, lights, bumpers, 65' lowback two tone interior, lowered 4" in front, 2" out back, stroked 1600dp to 1642.

Cars getting full FBSS airride, a 1776 and new paint this winter. Hence my need for another Toy lol. Parts hauler .

Oh, and the car has a 1954 7UP Cooler-Stereo, made by me. Deck and 2 6.5" speakers, one cable runs everything, and is unpluggable \m/ \m/

Yeah, that square is my second, and my 16th VW owned. They've definitely come up in pricing the last 3-5 years.

I may have a 62' Notch coming to me this fall. If I can find room for it. I'd kill for a low light ghia. Sighs.

you mean a junkyard? I got a good one near me. Shipping is pricey but can be done.

Or you mean new? Check Toyota Parts Zone or TRDPARTS4U.com

love the pictures with the graffiti dude peeking in your windows.

Awesome unique whip. Distinctive and classy

I thought you were saying your question about the mounts was being overlooked as we admired the sundog. I thought you were referring to replacing them...

Yeah.

I was just wondering if that sounds like the culprit - I can literally watch my shifter while in gear, move a good inch when gas pedaling.

I thought I read somewhere last year that the mounts have a tendency to fail.

Motor mounts and possibly transmission mount, I had to replace both motor mounts and trans mount when I bought my 90 last summer with 95K miles. They just wear out sometimes. I paid $50 for the motor mounts and around $60-70 for the tranny mount

Easy enough job to do with hand tools, flat floor, and a jack? Any tips?

I did my motor mounts on a lift with help from a friend, basically we had to unbolt everything and put them back together, the transmission mount was easy, just unbolt the crossmember and support it and take out the old mount and put in the new one.
